EECP®Therapy Discussed by Dr. Joseph Tartaglia on WABC-TV Channel 7 “Long Island Viewpoint”

Doctor and patient discuss the positive results experienced with EECP® Therapy

June 5, 2012 (Westbury, New York) - Heart Disease is America's most costly disease according to the American Heart Association, and informing patients of a proven treatment option that is available and reduces costs has been a long term conviction of Dr. Joseph J. Tartaglia, Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and a board certified cardiologist in private practice. Dr. Tartaglia appeared as a guest on “Long Island Viewpoint” with host Ken Rosato on WABC-TV Channel 7 in New York City on Sunday, June 3, 2012 to discuss EECP® Therapy.

Dr. Tartaglia has been treating patients with Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP®) for 15 years and has utilized EECP® therapy successfully with his patients who were suffering from angina and angina equivalent symptoms including chest pain, shortness of breath and fatigue. Dr. Tartaglia discussed EECP® therapy and how his patients had benefitted from this non-invasive, outpatient treatment which is painless and enhances blood flow in the heart by creating a “natural bypass”. “EECP® therapy softens the arteries by improving endothelial function within the arteries of the cardiovascular system, resulting in better blood flow throughout the body. When treating patients, we see patients improve by the third week of treatment and patients notice improved exercise tolerance, use of less nitro(glycerin) and suffer from fewer symptoms” stated Dr. Tartaglia.

Marie, an EECP® therapy patient of Dr. Tartaglia's shared her health history on the program noting that she had been a recipient of bypass surgery and four angioplasties with another cardiologist which did not help improve her condition. Dr. Tartaglia mentioned “When I first met Marie, she couldn't walk across the room because she was in crippling pain with angina, and now she has become a marathon walker”. Last treated with EECP® therapy in 2005 by Dr. Tartaglia, Marie's extraordinary health results and her overall quality of life have improved immensely with EECP® therapy.

Dr. Joseph J. Tartaglia, MD, FACC, is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Nuclear Cardiology. He graduated from Duke University in 1977 and received his medical degree summa cum laude, from the University of Rome in La Sapienza, Italy in 1984. Dr. Tartaglia's training included a Residency in Medicine at Montefiore Hospital North in the Bronx, where he also served as Chief Resident; an Internship in Pathology and a Fellowship in Cardiology from North Shore Hospital, Cornell University. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College and holds a teaching position at Cornell University as well as authored numerous papers on EECP® therapy. Dr. Tartaglia was one of the first physicians in the Unites States to make EECP® therapy available to his patients.
